Question by Feeble Muffin: HP Laser Mouse Problems?
Hi, I have vista. I just bought this “hp mini laser mouse”, (http://shopper.cnet.com/sc/32305707-2-200-0.gif). I’ve been through the setup guide, restarted my computer several times, put the reciever into different usb ports e.t.c. The computer doesn’t even know the wireless reciever is plugged in?? The weird thing is the reciever blinks (which it should do all the time) for about 10 seconds when i turn the computer on, but once it gets passed the loading screen, the reciever just switched off…help?

test it on other pc, if it is works, driver problem, remove and reinstall it then connect your hardware mouse.

no spare pc, then uninstall mouse driver and unplug everything related to mouse. then install the driver first then connect your mouse, the os should able to detect.
if it is dun, replace it if wty.

Loud clicking noises from harddrive; bad battery life.

Over the last 2 years I have cycled through netbooks about once every 4-6 months. Netbooks overall are a new concept and the technology’s advancing quickly, so I buy a new one often to stay on top of the curve. Before buying this Samsung I used 2 Asus and a Toshiba netbook, all of which I liked a lot. I liked this Samsung because it looks great and the keyboard is wonderful. However, there were two bad things that made me return it after only 3 weeks of use. First, the Samsung netbook’s battery life was sub par, getting only a few hours on full load (whereas my second Asus got about 8 hours!). Second, and more importantly, this Samsung’s harddrive makes obnoxiously hard clicking noises when it is being accessed by the system. These clicks are loud enough that I could not use this in quiet environments without being severely annoyed. Go ahead and google some thing like “Samsung n150 harddrive clicking noises” and you’ll see other people are having the same issue. So in the end, based on my experiences with numerous other netbooks, I have to give this Samsung only 2 out of 5 stars. I just isn’t very good. Try an Asus instead!

Great little computer

I ordered this computer last week and have been very happy with it. I use it for video chatting, internet, and word processing. The Windows 7 Starter is nice and it gives you Word for 60 days for free. The webcam is nice and does the job on skype. I picked this netbook over others because of the keyboard. The keys are a bit more separated than other netbooks which I loved. I’ve had no trouble typing at all. The computer picked up my wireless internet right off of the bat, better than my old laptop did. The battery life is awesome…I have to plug it in every couple of days but that’s it. The screen does take a little getting use to as I’ve had to zoom in a few times to really see something when I’m online shopping, but I’d rather have that then be carrying around a huge heavy laptop with a shorter battery life. 

Overall good for the price! I added a wireless mouse so that my kids can play games and I plan on buying a thumb drive because I don’t want to load too much onto the computer. It moves a little slow, but I figure if I store my information somewhere else it should be fine.

2) Samsung is used to present better designed netbooks on the average. 

ON THE AVERAGE: 
Netbooks are netbooks. Win 7 Starter OS, Atom N450 CPU, 1 GB RAM 

CONS: 
1) Microsoft was forcing companies to produce at most 1 GB of RAM with Win XP OS. Since this is Windows 7 Starter, as long as there is no more constraints, Samsung better present us with 2 GB of RAM. I may also upgrade the RAM but than have to throw away 1 GB old RAM. 
2) The N310 used to have 8800 mAh batteries that last 10 to 11 hours. This one only has 4400 mAh batteries. Why not present us a better battery? 
3) All the previous netbook models of Samsung used to have bluetooth connectivity, which this one lacks. I dont even know why.

Back in May of 2009, i purchased my first Samsung Netbook, the N120. I purchased it because of the keyboard size and alleged battery life. I have been happy with it ever since. Battery life is as advertised. 

I needed to get a netbook for my wife, and after much shopping, i decided that the Samsung N150 would be a good choice. 

Same Keyboard size ratio, great battery life, and some updated features 
1. Windows 7 starter edition 
2. Pinetrail Processor 
3. Same great battery life 

Samsung has also made some good improvements with the mousepad. You can scroll, pinch & zoom, and rotate all with the mousepad. 

The updated design is similar to the older n120, but nicer. 

They moved the power button down to the front which is ok. 

one of the USB ports stays powered on to charge your phone or device even during hibernation. 

Keyboard is the same spacing and size, but now they are using chiclet style keys. Seems good. My wife may give me more updates on this later. 

So far, so good!

Exactly what I was looking for. This is a small laptop, not full size laptop. The only complaint I have is that the MS OS is Windows 7 (entry level) edition. This means that it’s stripped down of features that most of us need. You may have to pay additional money to upgrade the OS to a version of the OS that meets your needs.

Great little netbook for the price.

I searched for a netbook for about a week and found that I could get a Toshiba netbook at Best Buy for about the same price that had a slightly faster processor but a smaller hard drive. I decided to go with the Gateway because of the 250 GB hard drive instead of the 120 GB. The slight increase in processor speed on the Toshiba just could not offset the Gateways price of 0 out the door with the larger hard drive. I upgraded the memory to the 2 GB max( Crucial 2GB 256Mx64PC2-5300 CT25664AC667 DDR2 200-Pin SODIMM Laptop Memory )which really makes a difference only for downloading files or watching video. The battery life seems to be about what is advertised, or maybe slightly better. I removed Norton’s and installed freeware for anti-virus and spyware and will probably remove the Microsoft Office suite because I don’t want to pay 0 for it. For as little as I expect to use it I don’t think that it is worth it on this netbook. I really only expect to use it for traveling which will consist of web use and email, and maybe video chat occasionally. It is built very solidly, and has great styling. As another reviewer stated, the battery does add about an inch to the depth over other netbooks, but this is only an issue for finding a sleeve to carry it in to protect it. I found a sleeve at Wal-Mart (also here at amazon.com) by Targus( Targus 10.2-Inch Slipskin-Peel Netbook Case )that looks great and fits perfectly. It comes in burgundy colored trim that matches exactly. It is slightly more here at amazon.com unless you get the blue trimmed one, which is about half the price as Wal-Mart. If you are looking for a full time computer, a netbook is not for you, but if you want mobility at a great price then I highly recommend this Gateway.

Sweet little netbook

My wife gave me a red LT2030u for Christmas. It’s small, it’s light and in runs most apps as well as my bigger notebooks. 
I liked the computer straight out of the box. It processing speed is good, Windows 7 standard ran every thing I wanted and the screen looks great with a clear bright picture. 
Me being me, couldn’t leave well enough alone so I added a 2G memory chip (SODIMM Memory module, MN2048SD2-667 - sold by Amazon, an ASUS USB 2.0 8x DVD Writer External Optical Drive SDRW-08D1S-U also sold by Amazon and bought a nifty Targus Sport Netbook Case TNC101US also sold by Amazon. 
I had an extra license for Windows 7 Home Premium so I installed it on the netbook. 
The netbook immediately found my network and streams HULU movies really well. The only application I have tried that would not run was “Tiger Woods Golf 2008″. In all fairness, netbooks are not really built to play games and it is possible it could be a Win 7 issue with a somewhat older game. 

Good to know stuff: - There is only one slot for memory, so to upgrade from 1 to 2G you must buy a 2G memory module and replace the existing 1G module. Most external DVD drives which use the USB ports for power require two USB ports to plug into (they have a Y cable), should be no problem as this netbook has three USB ports.

Terrific Netbook

I’ve had the Gateway LT2030u for three weeks and am thoroughly enjoying it. I have a full sized computer with all its bells and whistles in a home office and now use it only to update several web sites I maintain and to type and/or print lengthy documents. The Gateway LT2030u had allowed me to go “green” in that it consumes very little energy as compared to my full sized computer and peripherals, plus office heating and lighting. I can use the Gateway anywhere in the house, or for that matter, anywhere on my property. 

The Gateway LT2030u is very easy to set up. From opening the box to going online took me about 15 minutes, taking my time. It quickly identified my wireless network and locked on quickly. It is a sharp looking computer with a logically organized keyboard that is easy to use. The battery life is impressive. It kind of reminds me of the Energizer bunny in that it just keeps going! 

I added a wireless mouse that required no installation at all. The Gateway recognizes it immediately each time on booting and it certainly simplifies my web browsing. I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser and it was exceptionally easy to download, install, and use. Same with OpenOffice for creating and reading documents and spreadsheets. 

I highly recommend the Gateway LT2030u!
